Replaced

(written May 2023)

Forgotten
so easily.
Our names
placed in a bottle and
thrown into the ocean.
We never existed.
Deposited
as memories
in the back of minds.
Dusty globes of faces,
places and times.
Replaced
with someone
new that shines.
Then, they, too, will
fade away as the
years pass.
We are all
so easily forgotten
like the dregs at
the bottom of a glass.

  1. I love this poem, Maggie. I particularly like the lines,

    ‘Deposited
    as memories
    in the back of minds.’

We keep so many thoughts, facts and feelings in our minds, but although our brains mostly remember so much and for so long, they are eventually pushed to the back and replaced by new thoughts and feelings. Xx 💐💖🌷
