Sand

(written May 2023)

We are all but shifting sands.

With no plan, we walk life’s beach.

Searching for someone to cling to

even if they are unreachable.

What we hope will mend

our brokenness may

become a jagged edge too.

Wounds reopen.

Affairs of the heart.

We tear apart again.

Only you can decide

which rock to cling to

if it is worth the pain.

Some chances do not

come back around,

and a line in the

sand must be

made.
