Divine Intervention

Divine intervention

arrests my attention.

Now I am standing in

no-mans land.

I dare not move

sinking sand

surrounds me.

Yet gravity

insists on pulling me

towards you.

Do I try and bridge

this gap one last time?

Or should I stay

where I am?

It seems too

risky to extend my hand

in the hope that

you will

grasp it.

As I hesitate,

time slips away.

Why must we play

this cat-and-mouse game?

Words are all

it would take

to ease my mind.

But please,

no false promises

or complex lines

Only the truth,

anything less,

would be a crime.
