Life’s Storms

(written April 2023)

The wind howls

rain lashes

your skin.

Demons within

patrol your mind

unleashing words

to break your spirit.

You seek shelter

white knuckles

pray for salvation

from the riptide.

You cry out in vain,

“how do I survive”?

A storm is a blessing

in disguise.

It arrives with brute

force and leaves

the same way.

But life’s storms we

must face

to cultivate

strength.

As we navigate

its twists and turns

with the occasional

locked gate.

  1. So true Maggie..Life’s storms are needed..it’s how we grow and grow strong, gain confidence, when we have put them behind us. This was simply and beautifully written. Thank you for this reminder:)
