Step into the River

Overconsume.

It will make you forget.

The demons in your head.

Pour the drink.

Light a cigarette.

Gorge yourself on fast food shit.

Score a hit,

anything to numb the pain.

Wake up the next day.

Things are the same.

No escape.

No quick fix.

Trauma.

Healing is an unending river.

No, pretending will make it right.

Out of sight

but not out of mind.

Step into the river.

Let the water rise.

Cry.

Let your tears mix with the dirt.

Loss.

Heartache.

Regret.

Then do it again.

Until your soul is clean and you are no longer in pain.
