Passer-By

A passerby on the street of life, no one knows her name.

They only see the fake smile painted on her face.

Some stop along the way and pass the time.

Only a few ask if she’s ok,

so accustomed to seeing her well-groomed as she walks out the door.

Most are under the misapprehension that she is confident and self-assured.

Like an actress in the lead role, she plays her part well.

A passerby to you and me, but she has a story to tell.

Everyone you meet is a book waiting to unfurl.

All anyone wants is for someone to listen to their story without judgement or rebuke.

Most people are more interesting than they look, even if not appealing to the eye.

So remember that the next time you see a passerby.
