Unspoken Words

Unspoken words are heavy

suffocating.

I cannot breathe.

Each cavity of my heart bleeds.

Drowning

in this crimson tide of messages unsent.

I lament with regret

as I ride waves of unspilled ink.

And I ask myself,

is it worth the risk

to deliver and implore

and pour my soul out in your presence?

Or will I be met with ambivalence?

Unspoken words regurge and replay in my mind.

It is time to set them free.
