The Storm

I stood in the middle of the storm as the wind howled

and the rain permeated my skin.

Life had given me another lesson to learn.

Broken, so I decided to curl up in a foetal position, hoping that I would die.

Time had no meaning as it slipped through my fingers.

I slept, then awoke, thinking it perhaps it had all been a dream.

Nothing seemed real anymore.

Only to find that the storm was still raging without any sign of relent.

So I summoned what little reserves I had left as I walked free of the wind and rain.

Since that day, I have never been the same.

And so to the storm, I now give thanks for my pain.
