Quotidian Faces

Quotidian faces hide traces of pain behind fake smiles.

They recall life as a child and how they played.

Now the lines etched on their faces remind them of approaching old age.

They waste their days in regret with idle chat.

There is no way back to happier days or an erase button for cruel memories that never fade.

Quotidian faces hide their pain, but hope keeps them alive as dawn breaks on a new day

because hope was once the reason they chose to stay instead of throwing it all away.

Quotidian faces hide their pain in a world without empathy, where everyone wants fame.
