Walls

We do not build walls to guard against fire.

Our barricades are the armour we wear to protect our hearts

while we wait and see if anyone is brave enough to climb the ladder before plunging themselves into the mire.

Who would wish to wade knee-deep into the depths of our souls?

Like a footman on patrol, we guard ourselves so much that the wall becomes a prison.

But living in prison is still better than another incision to the heart.
