Instagram Prompt Poem

THESE WORDS ARE FROM MY SOUL

I stayed, but please don’t ask me why.

It was a never-ending battle between heart and mind.

You think that they will change.

That love conquers all.

But love cannot save you when your back is against the wall.

Invisible thorns pierce my heart as the madness begins again.

His words pour down on me like torrential rain.

I am a bleeding waterfall praying for it to be over soon.

Still, the angry words flow like a monsoon.

So I curl up in a ball while I wait for this barrage to subside.

Abuse comes in many forms.

They need not raise a fist, and they are masters of disguise.

My wounds are healing.

I survived.

But many still live with a monster, and no one hears their cries.
